George Litterst  


George Litterst is currently a private piano teacher in Rehoboth, MA. In recent years, he served as a mentor at the Ross School of East Hampton, NY, where he was involved in developing a K-12 curriculum for performing arts. Additionally, he has taught in a wide variety of musical environments: university, conservatory prep school, community music school, public school, and private studio. Academic institutions where he has taught include the New England Conservatory of Music Preparatory School, Northeastern University, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He is a member of many professional musical and educational organizations such as the Music Teachers National Association.  


As a national leader in the use of technology in music eduaction, Mr. Litterst is a frequent presenter at national music educator conventions, such as Music Teachers National Association (MTNA,)  National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy (NCKP,) World Piano Pedagaogy Conference (WPPC,) Technology Institute for Music Educators (TI:ME,) Associatioin for Instruction in Music Technology (ATMI,) and others. Over the years. he has presented to various state and local educational gatherings and has conducted numerous workshops for music teachers. He has also presented at the World Piano Conference in Europe. 


A primary interest in the use of computers to create new opportunities for music learning, exploration, and performance has led Mr Litterst to found Time Warp Technologies with his partner, Frank Weinstock. George is the co-developer of Home Concert Xtreme, intelligent music accompaniment software; Classroom Maestro, an electric blackboard for presenting musical concepts; Internet MIDI, a program for linking MIDI keyboards over the internet for real-time lessons and performances; Adventures in Musicland, four computer games that explore sound, pictures, and music in a game context; Music Mentor, an introduction to music history and the fundamentals of music; and Perceive, an integrated ear training and music theory package. Home Concert Xtreme was the recipient of the 2010 MTNA Frances Clark Keyboard Pedegogy Award. 


A pianist, Mr Litterst has appeared in solo recitals and chamber concerts in the United States. He was a regular soloist with the Rockford, Illinois Pops Orchestra for 26 summer seasons. He has also made guest appearances as a conductor. In addition, he has performed extensively as a church musician. He currently performs as soloist as well as with duet partner, Shana Kirk. These concerts feature the interactive use of computers and multi media elements.
